Blind spot monitoring for vehicles with restricted visibility
Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) is an advanced vehicle technology designed to improve driving safety. Dometic's MWE 4104 system uses 4 sensors to monitor the area next to and/or in front to the vehicle that is not normally directly visible to the driver - the so-called "blind spot".
Blind Spot Assist allows the driver to keep an eye on areas around the vehicle that are not normally directly visible, minimizing the risk of unexpected collisions when changing lanes or turning, reducing accidents and increasing the safety of all road users.
The MWE 4104 Blind Spot Assistant was developed by Dometic to support a driver in changing lanes or turning safely. The highly sensitive sensors can be installed either in the side area, the corner and step areas or the front area.
The system is automatically activated when the speedometer is moved or the turn signal is activated. This ensures that the blind spot assistant is active exactly when it is needed. If vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians are detected in the blind spot, the driver receives both visual and acoustic warning signals to enable immediate action. An area of up to 120 cm is monitored. The included LED display shows warnings in three colors, allowing the driver to interpret them intuitively. This means he can immediately see the area and the risk situation at a glance.
The automatic activation via the speedometer ends when the speed exceeds 15 km/h or the indicator is in its "rest position". The system can also be deactivated by operating the handbrake or using a push button.

The ultrasonic sensors can be painted in the color of the vehicle.
In order to integrate the system into digital vehicle technology, an additional CAN bus interface (conversion of the analog signals from the control electronics into digital signals) may be required. The Dometic CBI 200 CAN bus interface supports a large number of these vehicles. We will be happy to provide the current Dometic type list on request. However, a vehicle-specific adapter may need to be used, which must be purchased from the open market. If you are unsure about this, please contact your trusted car repair shop.
And please always remember that the blind spot assistant is intended to provide you with additional support. However, this does not mean that the use of this device (or any other auxiliary system) does not release you from your duty of care and caution when driving or maneuvering.

Unter Umständen muss jedoch ein fahrzeugspezifischer Adapter eingesetzt werden, der über den freien Handel bezogen werden muss. Sollten Sie diesbezüglich unsicher sein, wenden Sie sich bitte an die Kfz.-Werkstatt Ihres Vertrauens.
Und bitte denken Sie stets daran, dass Totwinkelassistent Sie zusätzlich unterstützen soll. Das bedeutet aber nicht, dass die Verwendung dieses Gerätes (als auch alle anderen Hilfssysteme) Sie nicht davon entbindet, Ihrer besonderen Sorgfalts- und Vorsichtspflicht beim Fahren oder Rangieren nachzukommen.
