Dometic MagicWatch front and rear parking aids

The electronic parking aids of the Dometic MagicWatch range, still familiar to many vehicle owners under the former name WAECO MagicWatch, monitor the area in front of or behind the vehicle, depending on the model. Ultrasonic sensors detect obstacles and alert the driver with audible signals and – depending on the system and equipment – additional visual warnings.

Systems with four or six ultrasonic sensors are available for different types of vehicles. Depending on the model, sensor sensitivity, activation behaviour and other parameters can be adjusted to suit the vehicle and installation requirements.

Dometic therefore offers compact solutions for cars as well as parking aids for vans, motorhomes, trucks and other commercial vehicles.

4 or 6 sensors – which parking aid is right for your vehicle?

A higher number of sensors does not automatically mean that a system is better suited to every application. Four-sensor systems provide reliable monitoring of the required front or rear area for many vehicles. Depending on the vehicle width, some Dometic systems can even be operated with four, three or two sensors.

Six-sensor systems provide more extensive coverage and, depending on the model, offer additional adjustment options. This can be particularly beneficial for larger vehicles or vehicles with special body configurations.

The most important factors when choosing a system are therefore vehicle size, vehicle width, installation position and the required monitoring area.

Blind spot assistance for areas with restricted visibility

Not every assistance system in this category is designed exclusively for parking. The Dometic MagicWatch MWE 4104, for example, uses four flexibly positioned ultrasonic sensors to monitor areas around the vehicle that are difficult to see.

Depending on the vehicle and application, the system can monitor side areas, vehicle and body corners, step areas or the front of the vehicle. Visual and audible warnings alert the driver to detected obstacles.

Turning assistance systems for motorhomes, vans and trucks

With large motorhomes, vans, trucks and other long or wide vehicles, areas along the passenger side can be particularly difficult to see. Camera-based turning assistance systems help the driver monitor these areas.

The Dometic PerfectView CAM 1000 combines a camera image with intelligent object detection. Relevant moving objects such as cyclists or pedestrians can be detected and highlighted in the camera image, with an additional audible warning.

The Dometic PerfectView BVS 71000 is also available as a complete solution combining the CAM 1000 with a 7" M 75LX AHD monitor.
