Automatic Switching Between Inverter and Shore Power
The Dometic Büttner MT NU 3600 mains priority switch automatically switches the 230 V power supply between a sine wave inverter and an external shore power supply. It is designed for motorhomes and caravans with an inverter that does not have an integrated mains priority or transfer switch.
As soon as an external 230 V mains supply is available, it automatically takes priority over the voltage supplied by the inverter. The connected 230 V appliances and onboard sockets are then supplied by the external mains connection. When external mains power is no longer available, the power supply switches back to the inverter.
This eliminates the need to switch manually between inverter and shore power operation. At the same time, the onboard battery is not unnecessarily used to provide 230 V power via the inverter when shore power is available.
Mains Priority Switch for Sine Wave Inverters Without an Integrated Transfer Switch
The Dometic Büttner MT NU 3600 is designed as an addition to sine wave inverters without their own integrated mains priority switch. Its use is not limited to Dometic or Büttner inverters.
With a maximum output power of 3600 VA and a maximum input current of 16 A, the MT NU 3600 is designed for higher-capacity 230 V electrical systems in recreational vehicles.
Additional Controllable 230 V Output
A key difference compared with a basic mains priority switch is the additional controllable 230 V output. This allows selected appliances to be supplied specifically via the inverter.
Dometic mentions e-bike chargers and air conditioners, for example, which can therefore also be operated via the inverter while travelling. The additional output extends the possibilities for using the onboard 230 V power supply.
Control Function for Integration into the Onboard Energy System
The MT NU 3600 features a 12 V control input and a potential-free switching output. This allows the mains priority switch to be integrated into a suitable onboard energy management system.
The output switching signal can be set to no delay, 2 seconds, 2 minutes or 10 minutes. Compared with a basic automatic mains transfer switch, the MT NU 3600 therefore provides additional options for controlling connected components.
For Motorhomes and Caravans
The automatic transfer function allows an existing inverter installation to be conveniently integrated into the 230 V electrical system of a motorhome or caravan. The connected sockets can be used both when an external mains supply is available and when operating from the inverter.
The Dometic Büttner MT NU 3600 combines automatic mains priority switching, high switching capacity and additional control functions in one device. Installation and cable sizing must comply with the specifications in the installation manual.
